Volunteering Opportunities
Baton Rouge
Capital Area Animal Welfare Society
Description:
The CAAWS is able to offer an alternative to pet owners who can no longer care for their
animals and also provides caring individuals who take temporary responsibility for needy stray animals. CAAWS assists the community with a Pet Adoption Center to help families by placing their unwanted animals into new permanent homes. Since 1997, over 450 dogs and cats found new permanent homes through CAAWS.
How you can help:
Volunteers are needed for the CAWWS Humane Education Program! Volunteers visit local schools with educational presentations regarding responsible pet ownership and child safety. CAAWS also provides free literature on pet care, training, and educational programs to the community, promoting responsible pet ownership and happy, healthy pets. Volunteers are needed at other events throughout the year as well. There is a very serious pet overpopulation crisis and a lack of responsible homes for animals constantly being born.
