The Obama administration last week announced $9.2 million in federal funding for hurricane recovery efforts in southeast Louisiana, including repairs at the Port of New Orleans, Southern University and the Milne Boys Home. The allocation also includes funds to reimburse St. Bernard Parish for debris removal.
"These grants will offer much-needed assistance to those still cleaning up and paying for the mess Hurricane Katrina left behind -- the Port of New Orleans is working to restore the pre-hurricane functions of its facilities and St. Bernard has removed dangerous debris from thousands of properties," said Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.
