    Landrieu: Army Agrees to Pay For Camp Minden Cleanup

    “This agreement is great news for residents of North Louisiana who are living with a ticking time bomb in their backyard.  They are one step closer to being able to sleep at night without worrying that it will go off,” Sen. Landrieu said. “This propellant has been a threat to the people living near by and a threat to the long term economic viability of Camp Minden.  I am glad that after I brought the Army to the table, it agreed to clean up the propellant. This truly has been a team effort that was made up of many different members.  We had Republicans and Democrats at the Federal, state and local levels working along side business and community leaders to hold the Army accountable and build a prosperous future for North Louisiana that all families can count on.”

    Landrieu Urges Increased Funds for Port of Lake Charles Dredging

    “Two LNG facilities valued at $20 billion will soon be exporting LNG and additional projects will bring a total of $70 billion in planned investments along the channel in the coming years.  When these projects are fully operational, the Federal Treasury will receive an estimated $1.2 billion annually from the Port of Lake Charles and its tenants, a $450 million increase over the $750 million it currently contributes to the Federal Treasury every year, yet the Port does not have the federal partner it needs,” wrote Sen. Landrieu.
